The principles for design of the height of the electrode pair are:

The base of the electrode should not extend below the vertical, cylindrical portion of the vial

In most practical applications, the fill height of the electrode is unlikely to extend above half of the height of the vertical part of the wall

The height of the frozen mass should not extend above the top of the electrode, otherwise there will be a non-linear contribution of the measured capacitance from the fringing field

Combining principles 2 and 3 means that the maximum height of the electrode needs to be no greater than half of the height of the vertical part of the wall.

The principles for the design of the width of the electrode pair are:

A. The combined width of the pair of electrodes should be no greater than half the circumference of the external diameter of the vial
B. Given the principle-A then the width of each electrodes is determined as ¼ of the circumference of the external diameter of the vial

With these conditions then a universal clip connector may be designed that has a fixed position at which the pogo pins will connect with the surface of the electrode.
