Streamed live on 9 Aug 2022Based in Leicetser, The Zinthiya Trust is a registered charity that offers support to women from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The vision of the charity is to create a society where people can be free from abuse and poverty and its mission is to:
To support people to live without the fear of violence and abuse
To provide practical support to reduce poverty & isolation among vulnerable people
To help people transform their lives through education, skills development and employment
To support people to achieve their aspirations and lead fulfilling lives
Our Objectives
We work to achieve our objectives by providing a holistic service including:

Providing one to one support to women fleeing abuse and honour-based violence;
Breaking the cycle of poverty by supporting people to manage their finances through improving their budgeting skills, maximising their income, dealing with debt & preventing them falling into debt;
Preventing illness associated with cold homes by provide energy advice and practical support to improve homes enabling people to keep their homes warm to reduce & prevent cold related illnesses;
Improve employability: Upskill people by providing training, work placements & volunteering opportunities that will lead to sustainable employment;
Reduce food poverty and food waste by providing emergency food parcels to prevent food poverty and a community shop selling affordable food, toiletries, household items and essential baby items to help people maximise their household finances;
Increase wellbeing, attendance & reduce bullying at school by provide school uniforms/shoes for children from families facing financial crisis.
Help those in crisis with emergency support and welfare provision.

We have a board of 6 trustees with 5 out of our 6 trustees coming from the local community. We employ 10 full-time and 6 part-time staff with a core base of 20 trained volunteers and community champions.

We are accredited by the Financial Conduct Authority to provide money and debt advice and insolvency options.
We have gained the PQASSO quality mark which is a ‘kitemark’ demonstrating that we are operating meeting best practice within the charity sector.

 Prevention is better than cure!: Pre-tenancy training & mentoring the homeless & upskilling of Frontline Workers
 Offer a truly holistic service: Service users fully supported for all needs
 Tackle the root causes: Solid foundation work not papering over the cracks
 Be flexible and offer easily accessible services for service users
 Strong on following-up with service users: 3, 6 month and 1 year+ intervals
 Empower our service users as much as possible
 Offer a service for all: No-one is excluded including those with no recourse to public funds
 Maximise the income that is spent on charitable delivery costs and keep overhaeds as low as possible
 Offer progression for service users: 90% of our staff and volunteers have been previous service users
